SoleRebels, is an Ethiopian brand of shoes, from Africa they surprise us with recycled materials, colorful shoes and originality. Its purpose was to implant the brand in Barcelona for the first time.

Located in Gracia, we had a very small place and a very limited budget.

The place was an old butcher with white and bright tiled walls. The coating did not fit with the brand and with the image that we wanted for the store. So we took out the tiles, but decided to leave the plaster gobs that held them, and paint in that textured walls with a stone grey with a gray glaze, so we keep alive part of the place history.

Ahead the walls, as a new layer, we proposed a number of recycled items, such as pallets, ropes and wheels that fit with the brand image and the idea that we wanted to convey. With minimal resources we bet for a sustainable and original design.

We decided to use natural materials and neutral colors to highlight the product. The colorful shoes should be the element that attract and stand out the street walker and future client.

One iron piece in "U" form wrap the space and allows us to exhibit the most outstanding shoes. One store side is lined with pallets, which helps to increase exposure while gives warmth to the space. Some ropes tied to the pallets go up by the ceiling to come down to the other store side, where they also hold several wheels, reused to promote featured shoes.

Everything is held between both sides and generates a sustainable tension.

Reciclar paso a paso

SoleRebels, es una marca Etíope de zapatos, desde Africa nos sorprenden con materiales reciclados, zapatos muy coloridos y originalidad. Su propósito era implantarse en Barcelona por primera vez.

Situado en el barrio de Gracia, disponíamos de un local de dimensiones muy reducidas y un presupuesto muy limitado.

El local era una antigua carnicería con las paredes revestidas de azulejos blancos y brillantes. El revestimiento no encajaba con la línea que queríamos darle a la tienda. Así que derribamos los azulejos, pero decidimos dejar la los pegotes de yeso que lo sujetaban, y sobre esa textura en relieve pintamos las paredes de la tienda de un color gris piedra, de forma de dejábamos viva parte de la historia del local.

Por delante de las paredes, como una nueva capa, propusimos una serie de elementos reciclados, como: palés, cuerdas y ruedas, que encajaban con la imagen de marca y la idea que queríamos transmitir. Con los mínimos recursos apostamos por un diseño sostenible y original.

Decidimos utilizar materiales naturales, con colores neutros para que destacara el producto. Los zapatos coloridos deben ser el elemento que más resalte, y atraiga al paseante de la calle y futuro cliente.

Una pieza en "U" de hierro nos recoge en planta y nos permite exponer los zapatos más destacados. Un lado de la tienda queda revestido con palés, que ayudan a aumentar la exposición y a la vez dan calidez al espacio. Unas cuerdas atadas a los palés suben por el techo hasta bajar por el otro lateral de la tienda donde sujetan varias ruedas que también reutilizamos para promocionar los zapatos destacados.

Todo queda sujeto entre un lado y otro y nos genera una tensión sostenible.
